• Oxygen has a reality show about New York City thrifters. Thrift Wars “provides an outrageous and entertaining look at New York’s leading and most hardcore thrifters … as they scour the city for the hottest vintage clothing and accessories — and try to make a profit.” You know that gritty feeling you get on your hands after rifling through clothes at the thrift store? I just got that sensation right now, through my whole body. (The Cut)• Nicole Richie is designing a range for QVC. The line will consist of (surprise!) Ms. Richie’s usual fare: flowy maxidresses and skirts, hobo bags, kimono jackets, and frothy printed blouses. Prices range from $75 to $250. Richie will debut the collection on the network’s The Buzz on the Red Carpet — Live From L.A. show on February 24th. Mark your calendars, if you strongly feel the need for another printed maxi. (WWD)• Jenna Lyons, Creative Director of J.Crew, told ABC News that First Lady Michelle Obama buys products from the store at full price, and has never once asked for a discount: “She acts like a customer and she has a stylist who helps her, but she doesn’t call in any special favors. They don’t ask for any discounts. It’s pretty unbelievable. She still continues to wear the product without any help from us.” This might be surprising if Ms. Obama was an ordinary celebrity, but she’s the wife of the President of the United States. It probably wouldn’t be that great for her husband’s political career if she was getting discount or free cashmere sweaters from the retailer. Michelle Obama: she’s just like us! (because right now, she has to be!) (Daily Mail)• June Ambrose is really making moves these days. The YBF caught up with her at LaQuan Smith‘s fall presentation, where Ambrose dished about her latest project: her very own clothing line! “I am… finishing up my sample collection for my own line–my women’s contemporary line. We hopefully will be in markets for Fall 2012.” If her line at all reflects her personal style, it’s sure to be nothing short of fabulous! (The YBF)• If you’re not a fan of Nicki Minaj‘s over-the-top looks, you might want her to hire stylist Phillip Bloch. At Wednesday’s M.A.C Viva Glam launch party, he dished about his sartorial vision for the rapper: “I’d love to do Nicki very old-school Hollywood. I’ve always had the dream to take these girls who dress a little over-the-top, more theatrical, and take them and do a whole, like, old Hollywood thing.” (The Cut)• You can add Chanel‘s new boy bags to the long list of things you can’t afford. In the meantime, check out the campaign video, shot by none other than Karl Lagerfeld, starring Alice Dellal, who for some reason still thinks the half shaven head look is cute. (Racked)~ Jihan

Monica took the stage at the James L. Knight center in Miami, Florida this weekend for a Mother’s Day concert. She kept things relatively simple, opting for a pair of dark wash jeans and black t-shirt, but uplifted her look with a pair of $1,075 Christian Louboutin Daffodile platforms, and a $3,660 Roberto Cavalli satin printed blazer. The blazer features a single button, low stance, padded shoulders, black trim, and extended lapels.Daphne Groenveld modeled it on Cavalli’s Spring 2012 runway. If you love the jacket, it’s available for purchase on the Roberto Cavalli website. What do you think?~JihanPhotos by: JLN Photography/wenn

Jenee says, “I am attending a fashion conference in New York next month, two weeks before fashion week, and want to look my best. I don’t want to overdo it, but can you offer any advice or pointers on how I can create the perfect look?” Hey Jenee! I’m sure you’re already quite fashionable if you’re attending a fashion conference, so go with your instincts. Since it’s a conference, I’d say put a twist on business casual with a blazer in a bright color over a winter white or black shift:Your shoe game is key, so play the look up with a corresponding shoe and even a nail color. Slip on a pair of fabulous readers if you’re feeling studious, and place your Ipad or notebook in a leopard cover:More Alexis Bittar…You might be thinking…peep toes in the winter? Yes! Just slip on a pair of tights and keep it moving. Or, simply pair the look with any of these hot pink pumps:More Brian Atwood…Get the whole look for less with these:More Asos…I spoke on a panel for a fashion conference last year. Take a look at what I wore, and also what a few others decided to wear for extra inspiration:What do you guys think?

• Get out your tissues, gals, Page Six reports that Tyra Banks has fired America’s Next Top Model’s beloved judges, Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel, and Miss J. Alexander. Word is Miss Tyra wants to revamp the entire show and add a social media slant (and has been reaching out to popular bloggers like Bryan Boy to fill the open spots). Now, I love ANTM, and will probably still watch, but why oh why would Tyra take away the beautiful, bald, ever-sexy Nigel Barker from us? Something about that just doesn’t seem fair! I’m not sure if I’m on board with these changes. But to make up for the loss of Nigel & the gang, I happen to know a couple stellar bloggers that would love to step in as judges on the show. (Page Six) • MAC cosmetics will launch a limited edition collection with none other than Carine Roitfeld. The collection will be an ode to Roitfeld’s signature look: a bold eye, brow, and nude lip. The range is expected out this fall. Will you be buying? (WWD)• Bravo is working on a new reality show focusing on male models, with the working title The Untitled Male Model Project. The show’s premise is “Some of the most successful men in the world of male modeling try to make the most of this extremely high paying profession with a very short shelf life.” All I know is a male modeling competition means lots of shirtless guys, so I was sold once I heard “male model.” (The Cut)• Guys, Rihanna is sick of you saying she can’t dance to save her life. The singer released a behind-the-scenes look at her upcoming “Where Have You Been” music video, where she is doing actual choreography that doesn’t include grabbing her crotch. Mary Katrantzou is having a fantastic year. It’s only February, and the designer has already won a BFC Fashion Forward award, and collaborated with both Topshop and Longchamp. Not a bad start to 2012! It’s easy to see why Ms. Katranzou is in such high demand. Her uncanny ability to make her busy digital prints flatter a woman’s body has put her on the map as one of the most promising emerging designers out there. So you can understand the excitement over her Fall 2012 collection, and Miss Mary certinaly did not disappoint. At a glance, Katrantzou’s patterns may look like a modern interpretation of the classic scarf print. But how could you simply glance at these clothes? Upon further inspection, these prints are more remarkable. Katrantzou says her prints were inspired by everday items: coat hangers, rotaries, no.2 pencils, typewriter keyboards, spoons, wrist watches. The designer transformed these everyday effects into exquisite works of art.Classic silhouettes with modern predelictions anchor these elaborate patterns. Shift and column dresses boast molded peplums. Asymmetrical sea anenome-like layered babydoll dresses billow out behind the models. Katrantzou also offers a few of her signature sculpted lampshade pieces, with architectural, structured sleeves and skirts.Katrantzou takes her trademark digital prints to a new medium: knits. She serves up a selection of knits that seamlessly blend in with the silken prints. What is there left to say? This collection is gorgeous. It’s hard to imagine clothes like these come from a woman who often wears all black. It will really be a pleasure to see how her brand develops over the next two years. She already churns out stunning collection after stunning collection, and her BFC sponsorship will only make Katrantzou’s brand stronger. I, for one, cannot wait to see what she brings us next season! What do you think?#gallery-1 {margin: auto;}#gallery-1 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-1 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-1 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}/* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */~Jihanphotos: Vogue
